On Thursday, May 18, 2017, the third annual Daniel K. Inouye Distinguished Lecture will take place at the Library of Congress in Washington D.C. This lecture is titled “Inspiring a Sense of Service and Idealism,” and features The Honorable Elaine L. Chao, U.S. Secretary of Transportation; Reed Hastings, Chief Executive Officer; and Netflix. It is moderated by Ann Compton, former ABC News White House Correspondent.
The lecture is hosted by the Library of Congress’ John W. Kluge Center, in conjunction with the Daniel K. Inouye Institute. This is the third lecture, in a five-year series, designed to celebrate the legacy of the late Daniel K. Inouye.
In recognition of the centennial of the birth of President John F. Kennedy, this year’s lecture was planned in collaboration with the Kennedy Center and the Peace Corps to focus on the values of service to the country and to the cause of peace held dear by both Kennedy and Inouye.
Prior to the 12:30 p.m. live stream of the lecture, ‘Imiloa Astronomy Center will host a pre-show panel discussion moderated by Dan Boylan beginning at 11:45 a.m. The event is free and open to the public.
