On the coronavirus update. The number of active cases for Hawaii Island on this day and time is five. These five individuals are quarantined at home and are being monitored by the Department of Health. At this date for Hawaii Island, no one infected by the virus had to be hospitalized.
Your county government task force on prevention continues to disinfect areas around the island. Concentrating on public restrooms, sidewalks, bus stops, and parks. This will continue seven days a week as long as necessary to combat the spread of the COVID-19 virus. An updated information flyer is now being circulated.
This is a community issue and your help is needed to help prevent the spread of this virus. Do your part, get informed and protect yourself and the community.
We can all help stop the spread of this virus in our community by practicing good etiquette on coughing and sneezing, keeping areas clean and sanitized and as hard as it is for Hawaii’s culture, no handshakes, no hugs, no knuckle to knuckle. Just say “HI” for now. Your help is needed and can make a difference. Working together we can minimize the impact on this island.
For your information, there will be drive-up COVID-19 testing at the Old Kona Airport from 8 am to 3 pm today.
